Columbia River Knife and Tool's M16-12ZER EMT Serrated Edge Tanto Blade Knife Review

I have EDC'd this knife for more than a year now, and have only recently started carrying other knives to try them out. This is a great pocket knife for several reasons. I like the tanto style blade on this knife and have found it reasonably OK to resharpen. The blade is durable and will not rust up on you easily, steel is a decent mid-grade that will hold an edge for EDC use. You'll thump on this knife and actually use it, where you will baby your $120 VG-10 steel knife that is "better."

I love the orange handle and stainless colored blade because it keeps me out of trouble. No one seems threatened by this knife. Pull it out at work to open a package, and you won't get looks or questions. Try doing that with a black tactical blade buddy. People see a menacing black knife and they give you funny looks. Not that I care, but I want to be discrete, and I've found that this screaming orange handled knife hides in plain sight very well. It looks like a piece of safety gear, or a tool and not a weapon... but this knife could be pressed into service if need be. The orange handle poking out of your pocket creates a strange stealth carry. I've walked past police and security who just don't care about it, but I'm a professional looking well dressed adult, which helps.

The flipper will shred your pocket if carried in the right front pocket (minor ding), so I carry in the left front pocket instead. Lockup is tight, flipper works well, and the auto-lawks works fine, and after some practice it's second nature and one handed to close. I find that most people cannot close any folding knife anyway, unless it is a typical folding design from the olden days. This knife is reasonably strong and it would penetrate well if you needed that. The tip is strong and the blade is hollow ground so it's not too heavy. Grip has OK traction, and I like the way if fits my hand. You could find this knife easier if dropped in the woods or even in water. I like the serrations, although there are purists who don't, I use them on cordage or heavy cutting tasks, but most work is done with the angled first blade "tanto tip" and actual tip.

5 stars for this faithful folder that has held up well to lots of heavy use and daily carriage, I didn't pay much because the orange design is not as popular... BONUS! Much better than knives at similar price with cheap black paint-jobs. Hated the CRKT mini "economy" black version of this model for that very reason.
