I like the Gold better than Buck's regular jig rod. The Gold is stiffer (but not too stiff) and has spinning guides. I use spinning reels on mine and the spinning guides work better for my use than the smaller jigging guides. The workmanship looks much better on this rod than it does on their standard rod. This is a good looking rod. I don't use these light, long rods just for panfish. I have caught large Rainbow on them and they handle large fish nicely. Fighting these long, flexable rods tires a fish out quicker for some reason, and light line holds up to large fish better than on a shorter rod. This Gold is a little lighter in weight than most 10' rods and still seems to have ample backbone. Buy this rod. If you haven't tried a long jig rod before you'll like how they fish. There's just something about a long thin rod bending and flexing with a good size fish on that adds extra fun to the catch.
