The handle broke off my old one of these and I looked around for a replacement part. As it turned out the brass rod actually broke just above the locking pin so I couldn't simply just fabricate a wood handle and mount it with a new pin. This part costs just as much as a new valve but Removing and replacing the old housing would require cutting the non filter side of the valve pipes so just replacing the guts was the better option. This part simply slipped in and worked as the old one does.
