I have a pair of Lowe Polartec tights that my daughter keeps stealing. They are the BEST! (but I can't find them for sale anywhere. They are probably 10 years old now). In my search, these Mountain Hardware seemed the closest. I ordered size small for her Christmas. They came today and I tried them on to make sure they are similar to mine and would fit. And I'm glad I did! They are TINY! I'm sure some people like their long-underwear/base layer to be super tight (and short), but not me/us. The other reviewer mentioned the low waist. They do, indeed, have a short waist. I personally like that, but perhaps it's not for everyone. I am 125lb, 5'7 inches ; with a 33 inch inseam. My daughter isn't as tall, but we wear similar size jeans. And these were just too tight and short. She wants to be able to wear them on their own... I'm actually going all the way up to a large. Hopefully the waist won't be to big. I will report back when they come!
Other than the sizing, they have a slight sheen on the outside and soft, brushed, fleece-like exterior. I would prefer less sheen on the outside, but all in all they look to be perfect. Just crossing my fingers I find the right size for her.
UPDATE: I got the large. I gave them to daughter for Christmas and she thinks they fit "oddly." She feels they are too short in length and perhaps not tight enough in the torso/waist, because of the low rise. They are going back and I don't think I'll try the medium because they will only get shorter. (for that reason, I downgraded to 4 stars)
